Bobby Fitzpatrick
As part of Urban Leisure Group's chain of London bars, Bobby Fitzpatrick was designed and built as a concept piece to bring '70s nostalgia to the North London suburb of West Hampstead.
Oakdene had twelve weeks to transform a dilapidated shell into a fully operational bar. This involved the removal of a central chimney from the basement up through to the ground floor, along with the installation of new supporting steel work. To the rear of the property, an extension was built in order to house a purpose-built commercial kitchen.
Oakdene worked with acute attention to detail to create an authentic '70s aesthetic within the bar, manufacturing bespoke bar units and display cases, as well as sourcing original '70s wall panelling and wallpaper. The decoration was finished with the application of artex ceilings and the installation of retro carpets, electrical appliances, and an imitation '70s kitchen.
As well as realising the look of the bar, Oakdene had numerous practical elements to consider: in addition to extensive structural work, Oakdene installed brand-new air conditioning, ventilation and extraction systems, as well as new acoustic ceilings to minimise disturbance to neighbouring properties.
